Today is all we have,

Today is all that matters.

From break of day, to dark of night,

There is no reason

to let go of this sight.

You may be burdened with troubles many

but tomorrow might arise without any.

If you should find the fear is within,

take a moment and feel the wind.

Take a minute, or two or three,

and feel your surroundings and set it free!

...it is by choice we keep all inside,

Allow your emptiness and doubts to subside.

You can be who YOU are meant to be,

You can decide to rise above what you see.

Today is all we have,

Today is all that is for certain.

Don't waste time hanging on to hurting,

for Today is ALL we have,

Today is all that Matters.

Sitting in the Mountains

When I sit in the mountains

amidst huge redwood trees,

I didn't hear a single sound

just the buzzin of little bees,

dancing upon the flowers

sprinkeld on the hills,

the silence causes me to stop

and be so still.

To sit so calm and to be so quiet,

lets me know deep inside,

that we all need to try it.

The stillness of the mountains

the enormous redwood giants,

gave me an awareness

I haven't had for so long...

So insignificant are today's plans,

so small are our yesterdays...

Now is all that matters,

and understanding this,

I am amazed.

How I love the sounds of quiet,

the wind blowing in tops of trees,

I think I heard the sun shinning,

for it brought me to my knees...

"Thank you Lord for these,

your beautiful creations"

You sent them here for us

to contemplate and enjoy!

The ocean, the trees,

the wind upon the seas...

I am in amazement

Because it is all FREE!

Why do we choose

to have such commotion,

cell phones 24/7,

Computers of every size,

from the first blink of our day,

till we say goodnight.

Machines, cars, tv's and noise

Suffocates our tribal journey,

Taking away even our simple joys.

I am seeking out my path

and the direction I need to go...

I will look back to old dirt roads of years past,

The spirit from those who walked right here...

and the energy it gives me,

Is all I need to know.

When I sit in the mountains,

Deep amongst huge redwood trees,

I didn't hear a sound at all,

and the silence set me free.

The quiet caused me to stop

and to be so still,

It gave me the will

to unwind...

to let go...

Now I am going on my journey

Into the places that don't cost a penny.

I will sit in amazement

for the choices I have are many.

The Family Tree

The family tree upholds us all
its limbs are gnarled and strong.
It carries the weight of years gone by
and has hopes for the future and beyond.

The family tree is layers
and layers of all the lives connected,
in faith, in blood, in our God's love.
We kneel below it and believe,
our answers will come from above.

The family tree holds memories
of those we do not know and have never met,
we listen to its stories
and repeat them, so none forget.

A family tree holds comfort
to the members of its trunk and branches.
Some of us feel the wind in the top and sway,
others are sturdy and stay close to the base,
all of us have our function in that way.

A family tree is a journey
of years and years of life,
we share it, we care for it,
we seek shelter in it; through our strife.

Our family tree holds many
of those who paved the way,
of those who worked tirelessly
for each generation to say,
"I will make a good life
for this my precious family,
I will build a better path
for those who come behind me".

So look inside your family tree...
what is it that you see?
Do you see it for it's beauty...
do you see it for it's love?
Do you see it for your security,
how about it's humbleness and purity?

A family tree holds many dreams...
it holds us all together.
And if you watch it change and grow
and always let it keep you strong,
in your lifetime you will surely know...
this is where YOU belong!

When We Believe

Through our sadness and pain

we push onward to regain...

Past unrelentless discouragement

we continue going forward,

through each day and onward.

Finding that inner strength within

holding up that downtrodden chin,

we look up to the light

to feel that warm glow,

and only then do we know

We can win this fight!

For inner peace, for that release

from this self contained pressure

to find our inner truth

and forgiveness without measure.

Through each dark and stormy night,

we can make it...

we can take that gray

and turn it into light.

When we believe

there is a comfort in

circumstances beyond our control

No matter how dim.

When we Believe

Somehow we Shine,

doing what we are born to do...

We look up to find that light,

beleiving we can win our fight.

Behind a cloud, beyond our sight

Hold onto this with all your might,

find your light,

so you can Shine!

Keeping the Faith

How do we keep the faith

when all around us is falling away...
How do we wake up and trust
that the Earth will not swallow us up.
When there are bombs blasting all around
there is nothing to hold me safe,
because unsettled and sinking is the ground.
I can't see the sunrise in this time of need,
all I can see is famine and greed.
I try to be whole and think only good,
but life is crashing around me,
and what if I have no food?
No one can fathom the fright we all feel,
yet God tells me to hold on,
and that He will heal.
He will watch over us,
and give us all our needs...
but right at this moment
my heart feels like it bleeds.
How do I keep the Faith
when today is just not certain.
How it will begin or end ?
I guess I just need to listen,
for that positive peace
that fills my mind and soul,
I think I can do this,
Lord just help me...
not to give up or give in.
Lord just help me
to have strength and to win!
How do we keep this Faith
and not look too far ahead...
to keep our hopes and dreams
alive in our hearts instead.
I know you have my path
mapped out for me today,
I just need to follow it
and have Faith I'll find my way.

Love is Taught

When thinking about my life
and those who touch my heart,
the first person I feel
is Mom
Her warmth and her hug
her smile through anything...
her hope and her strength,
her undying love.
When thinking about my mom
and how she touches my life,
the first feeling inside
is love
Her faith that all will be
as it is meant to be...
and that all, is good.
When thinking about love
and how Mom reaches out and
gives it freely
unconditionally
and she never has a doubt
about her life or
her place in it.
When thinking about my life,
no one has meant more to me
than Mom.
Pure, lovely, honest and
oh so optimistic...
how she has touched my life
so beautifully...
and each generation that follows
learns how to live with this light
that shines from her
towards us...
and this love for the world
still to come.
Our future is brighter,
it is better... all because of Mothers'
blessed joy she shares with us.
There is no way to thank her enough
but the world will see
Mom is
in us all.
